Katherine Elizabeth Greeson and Mason Tyler Nelson were married at 11:00 am, Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the Historic Ruins of Barnsley Gardens in Adairsville.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Randell Greeson of Rome. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Richards, Marcile Greeson all of Rome and the late Richard Greeson.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Nelson of Lindale and Mr. and Mrs. Dwayne Nelson of Aragon. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Nelson of Rome, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Purdy of Summerville and Helen Nelson of Lindale.

Pastor Trey Thompson of North Rome Church of God performed the outdoor ceremony. Rose petals lined the aisle on the lawn behind the ruins.

A program of wedding music was provided by classical guitarist Keith Gehle of Suwanee.

Briana Greeson of Tallahassee, Fla., served as maid of honor. The bridesmaids were Taylor Casteel of Dalton and Shannen Gaylor of Rome. They all wore knee length satin dresses of cornflower blue featuring one shoulder bodice with an elegant bow and a ruched empire waist.

The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father wore a tulle-over-organza ball gown with strapless bodice that featured intricate beaded embroidery and a heavily embellished two-tiered skirt. She chose a cathedral length veil with pearl embellished alencon lace edge.

Luke Tolbert of Rome served as best man. The groomsmen were Nicky Borders of Rome and Derek Greeson, brother of the bride.

The mother of the bride wore an empire waist dress of black and blue satin with flower embellished scoop neckline. The mother of the groom wore black chiffon palazzo pants with a matching cap sleeve top adorned with silver caviar beading. The stepmother of the groom wore a brown and teal ensemble with printed skirt and teal jeweled neckline on a sleeveless sweater.

Following the ceremony a buffet lunch was served in The Ruins at Barnsley Gardens. The cake was a five-tiered half bride and grooms cake. The bride’s half featured beautiful scrollwork. The groom’s half featured themes of The U.S. Army, golf and Georgia Tech topped with chocolate covered strawberries.

The evening before the wedding the groom’s family hosted a rehearsal dinner at Mellow Mushroom.

Other pre-nuptial parties include a shower hosted by the grooms mother, Jerriann Nelson and Shirley Roberson; a shower hosted by the Ladies Ministry of North Rome Church of God; a shower hosted by Marcile Greeson, Tammy Worley and June Reynolds; a shower hosted by Judy Richards and Jennifer Davis; a lingerie shower hosted by Barbara Greeson and Briana Greeson and a shower given by the brides co-workers at Duffy’s Deli.

The couple will reside at Ft. Sill Army Base, Lawton, Okla.
