The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4911, 2632 Cedartown Highway, has installed a memorial wall inside the post home. The wall lists the 247 names of men from Floyd County who were killed during the wars beginning with World War I through the Afghanistan War.

Artist Gary Cooper took Commander Alan Smith’s conceptual design and created the memorial.

Smith explained, “There are other memorials throughout Rome but we felt the need to see our fallen comrades’ names in our home.”

The wall will be completed in time for the dedication ceremony to be on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. The post opens Thursday through Saturday at 5 p.m., and the public is invited to view the wall.
