To celebrate the National Day of Dance on Saturday, local dance instructors Don and Shirley Adams will be hosting “A Night at the Luau” where Rome residents can dance the night away while supporting local special needs children.
The event takes place on Saturday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Etowah Senior Center and will feature several different dance styles including swing dancing, rumba and line dancing.
No previous dance experience is required.
“If you care to dress for the luau theme, please do so,” Shirley said. “Otherwise, the dress will be dressy casual.”
The event is a fundraiser for children with special needs. All proceeds will go to Camp Good Times and Floyd county Special Olympics.
“Don and I feel very privileged to be hosting a dance for such a worthy cause,” Shirley said. “And all the money we raise will stay in Floyd County. These organizations support children with special needs right here in this county.”
Visitors can dance or simply enjoy refreshments while supporting the cause, she added.
The “Night at the Luau” takes place Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Etowah Park Senior Center located at 1325 Kingston Road.
Admission is $7.
