The name of the store is Ginger’s Dolllings & Cattywags, but that only gives away part of what you might find inside.
Owner Suzanne Gay said most Romans have been long familiar with the store’s toy collection, but there is so much more, she added.
“We’re not just toys anymore,” Gay said. “We were once known as a doll tore, but we’re not just dolls.”
What gets Gay really excited is the store’s collection of boys and girls specialty clothing.
The store has been at its 247 Broad St. location for the past six years.
Some of the brands that can be purchase there include Le Top, Mis-Tee-V-Us, Bailey Boys and Feltman Brothers.
But make no mistake, the store still offers many dolls and stuffed book characters, including the pink-adorned Angelina Ballerina.
Ginger’s also sells Middleton dolls, which come with adoption papers.
Gay said being able to connect with kids is a key part of her success.
“You’ve got to love children to be here,” she said, motioning to her brightly festooned shop that can clearly catch a child’s eye.
She minces no words about her rapport with those who walk into her store.
“My customer service is the top,” she said. “We really try to kill them with kindness.”
The store is open on Mondays fromm noon to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
