According to Rome police reports, a woman checked into Floyd Medical Center around 2 a.m. Saturday and told police she was shot in the foot at the Callahan Street building after a fight broke out with “several shots fired from several different suspects.”
A witness account claimed a large group started fighting, and after the witness fled, they saw the injured woman being helped before a group of unidentified men took her to the hospital.
A man also at the party was injured after the crowd inside fled, and he was trampled. Reports stated he suffered only minor injuries.
Police reported the owner of the building told police he wasn’t charging anyone for alcohol or food and that he was renting out the building for a private party. However, police also reported that a woman was collecting money at the door, charging $10 for men and letting women in for free. Police did not cite the owner of the building, who explained he treated it as a “private club.”
Officers recovered a bag of suspected marijuana and a shell casing outside of the building, but they were unable to find any evidence inside because “several subjects were sweeping up beer cans and assorted debris” before police arrived.
No arrests have yet been made.

Has the building passed fire inspection and have capacity requirements? It appears someone should be cited for something unless all laws were obeyed.
