Rocco threw four touchdown passes and Virginia (4-6, 2-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) won its second in a row after a six-game losing streak. It was the Cavaliers third straight win against the Hurricanes.
The victory kept the Cavaliers’ slim bowl hopes alive. Virginia still has to beat North Carolina and Virginia Tech to become bowl eligible.
Miami (5-5, 4-3) lost despite three touchdown passes from Stephen Morris and a brilliant performance by Duke Johnson. The freshman ran for 150 yards, returned a kickoff for a touchdown and threw a TD pass. The victory also cost the Hurricanes control of their Coast Division title race.
North Carolina State 37, Wake Forest 6
RALEIGH, N.C. — Mike Glennon threw two touchdown passes while Tobais Palmer returned a kickoff 100 yards for a score to help North Carolina State beat Wake Forest 37-6 on Saturday and secure bowl eligibility.
Logan Winkles and Asa Watson each had TD catches for the Wolfpack (6-4, 3-3 Atlantic Coast Conference). Tony Creecy also ran for a 1-yard touchdown for the game’s first score as N.C. State jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the opening quarter.
Palmer then opened the second half with his end-zone-to-end-zone return, tied for longest in school history, to blow the game open and ensure the Wolfpack would remain in firm control.

CLEMSON, S.C. — Tajh Boyd threw for 261 yards and three touchdowns in No. 10 Clemson’s 45-10 victory over Maryland on Saturday, the Tigers’ sixth straight and record 12th in a row at Death Valley.
Clemson (9-1, 6-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) had little trouble with the banged-up Terps (4-6, 2-4), who again started linebacker Shawn Petty at quarterback because of season-ending injuries to their four scholarship passers.

Boston College 6
BOSTON — Everett Golson ran for a touchdown and threw for two more on Saturday night to help No. 4 Notre Dame beat Boston College 21-6 and keep its national championship hopes intact.
Taking the field one hour after top-ranked Alabama lost to No. 15 Texas A&M, the Fighting Irish (10-0) remained unbeaten and in the hunt for a spot in the BCS title game. And a week after needing triple overtime — and a lot of luck — to get past unheralded Pittsburgh, Notre Dame eased past a longtime rival that had twice before spoiled its hopes of a No. 1 finish.
Golson completed 16 of 24 passes for 200 yards, connecting with Troy Niklas for a 7-yard touchdown at the end of the first half and with John Goodman from 18 yards out early in the second.
