Albany man arrested in Bartow hotel robbery

The Bartow County Sheriff's Office has arrested an Albany man in connect with a local armed robbery.

According to Sheriff Clark Milsap, the Hampton Inn located at 5600 Highway 20 near Cartersville was robbed at gunpoint on Nov. 21, 2012 by an unknown black male.

Deputies and investigators responded to the scene but did not locate the offender. Following leads discovered through other agencies, investigators believed that the robber was traveling the interstate system to avoid detection by deputies.

Investigators working with other agencies including Suwanee Police and Forsyth Police Departments were able to identify Michael Shane Mickler, 40, of Albany as the robber.

Mickler was arrested in Suwanee on December 2, 2012. Mickler was identified as the Hampton Inn robber and an Armed Robbery warrant issued for his arrest. He was booked into the Bartow County Jail on December 11 and is being held without bond pending a superior court bond hearing.

Mickler is also being sought by other agencies for possible involvement in other incidents.
