Decks have become an integral part of many homes built in the last 10 to 15 years. A company in neighboring Bartow County has developed a new product that may extend the life of your deck. It will certainly enhance the looks of the deck.
The product is called UDF-21 and its water-based coating that is designed to protect treated lumber. A second product along the same line has been developed to protect concrete surfaces around your home. It’s called UCF-30.
Both formulas are manufactured by Gulf Synthetics at a plant in Emerson.
The coatings are available in Rome at Friendly Flipper Pools and Spas, Lindale Ace Hardware and Builders Supply and Hardware.
UDF-21 acts as a wood sealant and can transform a traditional wooden deck surface into what appears to be a composite surface that has the potential of adding years to the life of a deck.
UCF-21 provides a seal to any concrete surface and is available in a variety of colors.
Warren Gaylord with Gulf Synthetics says that both of the coatings are environmentally friendly, containing no volatile organic compounds. They dry quickly allowing the consumer to put a second coat on as quickly as the first dries.
Gary Evans at Lindale Ace Hardware says, “I think they’re on to something good. The one’s who have tried it like it.” He says that thus far, customers seem to have had a little better success with darker tints than lighter ones.
The fact that it’s made in neighboring Bartow County is also a plus when it comes to re-ordering.
