The Florida Times-Union reports reports City Manager Bill Weeks and archaeologist Fred Cook have also found pieces ancient Indian pottery since they started digging in early September.
The excavation work is taking place on the grounds of the former Glynn Middle School in Brunswick's historic district. Cook says the graves they have uncovered date back to the 1700s.
The graves were part of a cemetery was that located on the eastern edge of Brunswick when it was small community in the late 18th Century. As the city grew, it subsumed the cemetery, leaving it forgotten.
