Swearing in new members and the details of the purchase of a new water truck for the city were the primary order of business at Tuesday night’s Cave Spring City Council meeting.
According to council member Kenneth Kelley, the financing of the truck for the water department was approved.
“The purchase of the new water truck was probably the biggest item,” he said. “We discussed how to finance it, and I think we’re going with a lease-purchase through the Georgia Municipal Association.”
Kelley said the new truck would cost around $15,000.
He said the vehicle was in stock and the city should be able to get it within a couple of weeks.
Mayor Rob Ware said other than that, it was a standard beginning-of-the-year meeting.
The only newcomer was Peggy Allgood, who won the Post 5 seat in November. The other members up for re-election ran unopposed.
The council also approved the city’s appointed positions for the year. Mary Littlejohn was appointed mayor pro-tem.
The next scheduled council meeting is Feb. 9 at 6 p.m.
