CEDARTOWN — A Cedartown teenager will spend most, if not all, of his life either in prison or under heavy supervision, the result of Judge Richard Sutton’s sentence.
Sutton sentenced Frank James Hawkins Jr., of 939 Cleo St., Cedartown, to life plus 10 years.
Hawkins was convicted in October of kidnapping, aggravated assault, armed robbery and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime.
The sentence means Hawkins would have to start serving the 10-year sentence after he completes the life sentence, according to court officials.
He could seek parole after 30 years under the life sentence. Upon his release he would have to serve a 25-year probationary sentence.
According to the initial investigation, Hawkins threatened a woman with a gun and forced her to drive to a local bank, withdraw money from her checking account through an automatic teller machine and then forced her to drive to another location where he exited the vehicle.
The woman was shot at some point during the incident and was treated at Floyd Medical Center.
