Centre, Ala., to demolish downtown buildings

CENTRE, Ala. — The Centre (Ala.) City Council has approved demolishing two structures in the city limits deemed unsafe by the city’s lien and clean ordinance.

Following a public hearing in which the council received no comments, the council approved demolishing and removing the structure at 300 Bay Springs Road and 590 West Main Street.

The demolition fee for the Bay Springs Road site is $2,200 and the demolition fee for the West Main Street site is $4,500.

City Clerk Mary Lee Tucker stated that property owners had been notified and that all procedures had been followed.
