Vince Vickers, chief instructor for the Chinese Shaolin Club of Northwest Georgia is answering this week’s questions for Small Business Snapshot.

What is the primary purpose of your business? The teaching of Traditional Chinese Martial Arts (Kung Fu). Classes in self defense and tai chi will be available at a later date.

What is the business background of the owners? This is my first small business endeavor. I am a psychologist by training.

Why did you start (or purchase) this particular business? I started this business to share my passion about martial arts and to pass on the benefits of training to others.

What makes your business unique? This is the only martial arts school in Rome teaching Chinese Kung Fu.

What do you enjoy most about your chosen profession? Seeing my students grow as people and martial artists. Sharing in their joy and accomplishment when they break a personal boundary, learn new material or earn a promotion is priceless.

What has been the biggest or most interesting challenge to overcome as a small business owner? Finding ways to inform the public about my business and services without a storefront.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers? Take the time to come and take a free class. Classes are for children (ages 6-12) and adults (ages 12 and older). Children’s classes start at 6:30 p.m. and adult classes start at 8 p.m.
