Peggy Lawrence, case manager for Floyd Behavioral Health Center, and Jason Shedd, dayshift supervisor of Respiratory Care, have been named Floyd Heroes.

Floyd Heroes are selected for their service to the organization, for being champions of the organization’s service standards and for inspiring others, both at work and in the community.

Lawrence was nominated by her co-workers who describe her as precise, organized, professional and compassionate.

“Peggy never takes a break, and her every working moment is devoted to taking care of the patient. I applaud her for always making herself available to each discipline without being asked,” says Janette Barker, director of Floyd Behavioral Health Center. “She doesn’t allow anyone to impede her efforts to get the best placement and resources for her patients and she serves as a role model for others daily.”

A Floyd employee for nearly seven years, Lawrence earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from Florida State University, Tallahassee. She is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Shedd was nominated by coworker Robin Cater, who says he has grown in the healthcare field from a lab technician to a respiratory therapist. “Jay personifies the values set by Floyd and I am impressed by his consistent display of these qualities. I have witnessed his willingness to go above and beyond job responsibilities to serve on teams, teach others and participate in performance improvement activities,” she says.

Jeff Thompson, director of Respiratory Therapy, says Jason is an invaluable player to the respiratory team because he’s always working hard to learn more. “Jay is dependable and rigorous in both his professional and personal life. I admire and respect his helpfulness, generosity, dependability and determination,” he says.

A graduate of Coosa Valley Technical College, Jason earned his associates degree in applied science.
