The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Alton Foster of Rome. The groom is the son of the Rev. and Mrs. Allen Royce Bishop of Louisville, Ky.
The father of the groom performed the double-ring ceremony before an altar adorned with matching English garden arrangements of hydrangea, Anna roses, stock, sweet peas and freesia, and two seven-branch wrought-iron candelabras. Smilax foliage and clusters of garden blossoms designated family seating.
A candle was lighted in memory of Alex Whitt Bishop, brother of the groom.
A program of wedding music was provided by vocalists Courtney Elizabeth Sellers of Bremen; Jennifer Sellers Bishop, Allen Scott Bishop, Adam Royce Bishop and Dave Waller, all of Birmingham, Ala.; and organist and pianist Wanda Hodges of Rome.
Selections included "Air" from "Water Music Suite" by Handel, "How Beautiful" by Paris, "Canon in D" by Pachelbel, "Trumpet Voluntary" by Clark, "The Lord's Prayer" by Malotte, "Shine On Us" by Smith and the recessionals "Trumpet Tune in C" by Purcell and "Ode to Joy" by Beethoven.
Guests were greeted and given programs by Ellen Bell Bishop, sister-in-law of the groom, of Birmingham, and Emily Ray Band, cousin of the groom, of Louisville.
Misty Jill Shahan of Alpharetta served as maid of honor, and Lauren Tilley Howard of Dacula served as matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Courtney Braswell Carter of Athens, Pamela Elizabeth Leonard of Athens, Anne Elizabeth Smith of Atlanta and Erica Marie Waite of Sewanee.
The attendants wore two-piece ensembles of Aruba blue satin-back taffeta. The sleeveless bodices had open backs with contrasting satin fold back collars, and were completed by matching slim floor-length skirts. They carried clutch bouquets of ivory Anna roses, hand-tied with sheer white organza ribbon.
The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, chose a gown of white Italian satin, designed with a bateau off-shoulder neckline. Embroidery of seed pearls, caviar beads and crystals embellished the neckline and cap sleeves. The back of the gown was accented by a satin covered button enclosure. Pearls and crystals scattered the A-line skirt, sweeping into an attached chapel length train.
She wore an elbow-length waterfall veil of tiered silk illusion, and carried a hand-tied cluster bouquet of Anna roses, miniature Eskimo roses, stock, sweet peas and hydrangea. An antique handkerchief, embroidered in blue with the couples' monogram and wedding date, wrapped the stems of her bridal bouquet.
Aaron Kenneth Bishop of Nashville, Tenn., brother of the groom, served as best man.
Groomsmen were Adam Royce Bishop and the Rev. Allen Scott Bishop, both of Birmingham, brothers of the groom, Brian Scott Foster of Rome, brother of the bride, Ryan Lee Band of Louisville, cousin of the groom, Kent Marcus Howard of Dacula, Eric Alton Peterson of Chattanooga, Tenn., Michael Anthony Reasons of Nashville, Dwight Ledon Thomas of Chattanooga and Matthew Christopher Willard of Lewisville, Texas.
The mother of the bride chose a sleeveless tea-length champagne dress of matte satin and a matching sculpted jacked with three-quarter length sleeves, adorned with a rhinestone clasp closure at the waistline.
The mother of the groom chose a lilac sleeveless tea-length sheath dress accented with crewel embroidery, and a matching cap-sleeve bolero jacket.
The mothers and grandmothers of the bridal couple carried miniature bouquets of ivory Anna roses in silver tussie mussies engraved with their initials and the wedding date, given to them as keepsakes from the bride.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Horseleg Plantation Country Club. A 1931 Pierce Arrow transported the bride and groom to the reception. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. John Shahan and Mr. and Mrs. Garland Wade, all of Rome.
Emily Ray Band, cousin of the groom, of Louisville, attended the guest registry.
Servers included Haley Brooke Shahan and Johnna Kay Shahan, both of Rome.
The bride's four-tier sour cream pound cake with French butter cream icing and a raspberry filling was accented with a Swiss dot design, and adorned with scattered Anna roses.
The groom's double chocolate cake with chocolate fudge icing was adorned with fresh chocolate-covered strawberries.
The evening before the wedding, the parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at Coosa Country Club for the wedding party and out-of-town guests.
Other pre-nuptial parties included a linen shower hosted by Mrs. Michael Carter, Courtney Carter, Mrs. Al Leonard and Beth Leonard at the Carter home; a family shower hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Jack Band, Ryan Band and Emily Band at their home in Louisville; a lingerie shower hosted by Mrs. Kent Howard, Anne Smith and Erica Waite at the Howard home in Dacula; a couples entertainment shower and cookout hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Ben Bonham, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Roberts, Mrs. Gary Welch and Dr. and Mrs. Jim Whatley at the Roberts home; a bridesmaids' luncheon hosted by Misty Shahan, Mrs. John Shahan, Kay Shahan, and Mrs. Tim Williams at the Shahan home; and wedding day refreshments for the bridal party provided by Mrs. Sidney Bell and Mrs. Adam Bishop.
