The Georgia Highlands Chargers men’s basketball team showed improvement, but suffered an 87-77 lost to East Mississippi squad.

The Chargers cut the Lions’ lead to five with two minutes to play but could not slow down East Mississippi’s Jarekious Bradley who ended the night with 32 points.

The Chargers had five players in double figures. The Chargers were led by former Armuchee star Matt Catanzano and Femi Ojuolape with 15 points each, Rashon Dumas with 11 points, Caleb Martin with 11 points and Matt Welch with 10 points.

The Chargers travel to Atlanta Metro College on Wednesday for a GCAA conference contest at 7:30 p.m.

EAST MISSISSIPPI 42

The No. 21st nationally ranked Georgia Highlands College Lady Chargers rolled to their eighth straight victory, retained their perfect record with a 58 -42 win against the visiting Lions of East Mississippi Community College.

The Lady Chargers led by as many as 19 points. The Lady chargers were led by Manon Cherubini with 19 points, who was 5-of-6 from the 3 point arc. Rachel Turrentine had eight points and was 2-of-2 from 3-point range. The Lady Chargers shot 70 percent from 3-point range.

The Lady Chargers travel to Atlanta Metro College on Wednesday for a GCAA conference game at 5:30 p.m.
