Georgia Northwestern Technical College was among those who recently participated in the Technical College System of Georgia’s Expo 2009 on Monday in Atlanta.

Georgia Northwestern chose to highlight its neuromuscular therapy program this year.

The expo, held in conjunction with the annual conference of the Georgia School Counselors Association, highlighted some of the more than 600 degree, diploma and certificate programs that are available at the TCSG colleges. More than 800 counselors browsed the program displays and met the college presidents, faculty, staff and students while enjoying delicacies from a 100-foot-long appetizer buffet created by the chefs and students from the colleges with culinary arts programs.

Bobby Lewis, program director and instructor for neuromuscular therapy, and several of his students offered chair massages.

GNTC’s neuromuscular therapy program emphasizes specialized training in areas such as Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, myofascial release, postural analysis, identification of diseases and conditions, medical documentation, therapeutic stretching and client care. Students may choose between an associate degree or diploma in neuromuscular therapy.

“Our neuromuscular therapy program has been very popular since its inception, and we feel it will continue to attract attention, especially from high school students,” said Craig McDaniel, GNTC president.
