LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) — A relatively new metro Atlanta liberal arts college is celebrating its largest ever graduating class.

More than 250 students received degrees from Georgia Gwinnett College which was founded in 2006. The school in Lawrenceville held its winter commencement ceremony Thursday.

The college offers 12 majors with 40 different concentrations and students from over 90 countries are enrolled at the school.

School officials say Gwinnett County, northeast of Atlanta, was once the largest county east of the Mississippi River that was not home to a four-year college.

Lawrenceville is about 30 miles from Atlanta.
