Health Questers have lost 931 pounds in first two months; April winners announced

Participants of Health Quest 2011 have lost a total of 931 pounds in the first two months. Teams have dropped 592 pounds of that and the other 339 was by those competing as individuals.

Health Quest is a public weight-loss initiative presented by the Rome-Floyd County YMCA, Floyd Medical Center and the Rome News-Tribune.

The April Subway Winner of the Month among individuals was Earlese Hopkins, who lost 4.91 percent of her body weight last month. Overall, she has lost 20 pounds in two months.

Second place for April with a 4.35-percent loss was Shintal Price and third place goes to Christy Hazel­wood with 4.05 percent.

In the team division, the Subway Winner of the Month was The WOPS. Their weight loss percentage was 2.13 percent. Team members include Cathy Dominy, Nellie Justice, Barbara Payne and Melinda Rose.

Second place was between 40 Plus and Fed Up and The Weight We Were with a 1.59-percent loss.

All of the first-place winners this month will receive 10 Subway gift cards for free sandwiches.

The top individual loser so far in the first two months is Jenny Ward with 9.84 percent and the top loser among team competitors is Candace Carlton of the Fab Five with 9.58 percent.

The next monthly Health Quest meeting is scheduled for June 21 at the Mount Berry Square mall community room at noon and 6 p.m. The topic is “Fun and Fit on Vacation.”

Weigh-ins are each Wednesday at the YMCA on Second Avenue from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
