slideshow
Clayton and Clark Jones will transform their Rome home into a musical venue Saturday as they host a cavalcade of musical performances in what could turn out to be fun-filled jam session.
The brothers, better known as local bluegrass/Americana duo the Groundhawgs, have gathered a slew of local musicians for the one-day event.
They include Scott Warren, front man for local Southern rockers Captain Soularcat, and his Collard Green Berets, Andrew Wardlaw, Seth Turner of The Strange, as well as Harland Goodnight and the Tirefires and members of local Americana favorites The Little Country Giants.
Clayton said in addtion to two outdoor acoustic stages, the event will feature an indoor picking parlor.
“If you’re a musician, bring your instrument,” Clayton said. “We will have jam sessions going all day long.
The men nicknamed their South Rome home “The Little Big Easy” because it reminds them of the old houses in New Orleans, they said.
Clayton and Clark will also perform as The Groundhawgs.
“Clayton and I feel like this is an unprecedented event,” Clark said.
The concert takes place at 11 W. Forest St. in South Rome and will begin at 12:30 p.m.
There will be barbecue and refreshment.
Organizers encourage guests to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets to enjoy the outdoor music.
Visit the concert’s official Web site at sites.google.com/site/planetalabamieproductions/ for additional information regarding band lineup and parking.
“We’ve been planning this event for quite some time,” Clark said. “We decided to do something that would last throughout the day … so we could get all of our musician friends together in one place.”
