I DON’T understand some employers these days. People put a lot of time filling out an application whether it is filling it out on paper or on-line.

Then when you think you are done filling it out, the employer has personality assessment quizzes to fill out. There are some questions that are reasonable enough to be on the assessment, and yet some of them that do not make any sense. For instance, a question referring to political honesty to the public and to who- ever is applying for that job. I do not understand what a politician’s honesty has to do with a particular employer. Are they looking for the honesty in a person that is applying there? Or is it about having the same political views as the employer?

There are also situational questions on these quizzes. It gives you a situation and answer choices based on why that person did that or what would you do in that situation if you were working there.

Then after you complete the assessment quizzes, they send an email to you saying thank you for filling out the application. However a few days later, the employer sends the disappointing email that you are not qualified for the position.

What I want to know is did the answers on the assessment quizzes disqualify me for a job? Sure they want to hire people based on their skill, good work history and references, but really it is the results of the assessment that ultimately decide. Since when do the results of a personality quiz trump the skills a person has to get a job? Some people may not have the best personality in the world, but they should not be left out from a job in the work force. Who knows, they may have the best skills in that area. It is a question that should be answered by employers everywhere.
