Emergency personell responded to a call of a person on fire Wednesday evening that led to one man being hospitalized, according to the Rome-Floyd Fire Department.

According to battalion chief Phil Langston:

The man, whose name was not released, was attempting to light a gas heater at a residence at 62 Tower Road in Silver Creek when the gas ignited and blew back onto his face.

Langston said he was taken to Floyd Medical Center but was not sure of the extent of his injuries as of Wednesday night.
