Rome police are investigating the alleged theft of $141,000 from a woman who said she was deceived by a man who told her he wanted to marry her, reports stated.

According to Rome police reports:

The woman said the man had physically and mentally abused her but promised to marry her. He convinced her to sign over her savings account and sell her house so they could buy a new one.

The two moved into the Stay Lodge Inn on Dean Avenue until they bought a new house, but the victim came back to the room one day to find the man gone. He had also apparently cleaned out her savings account of $31,000 and took another $110,000 from the sale of the house.

For everyones information, I know this lady very well and the sob that did this and she is not Stupid in anyway she was in love.... He lied to everyone about who he really was... and for the one who said she probably did not know him long.... they were together for 2 yrs.... so get your facts straight before you comment...

It really doesn't matter how many exclamation marks I put, that's way beside the point! The article has not mentioned how long this lady even knew this man...probably not long enough to know his character. I would be very leary of anyone who would even ask me to sell my house, move to the stay lodge and he's not even my husband yet. Even if it was my husband, I would think he's lost his mind. Love is not blind, people are.

why in the world would a lady with 141.000 be staying at the stay lodge to start with? i say somebody pulled the wool over her eyes. and maybe she could not see and also love is blind they say. lol

Issues or not, if he took the money then he should pay the price. Loves and trust trumps "STUPID" in one's reasoning almost every time.

14 exclamation points? Excessive?

Does the word STUPID come to anyone else's mind??? The words "abused her but promised to marry her" are the key in deciding that obviously this woman has issues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
