According to the report:
The victim told officers she received a phone call from someone claiming they worked with Microsoft Windows 7. They told her they were doing a routine check on her computer and that they found some programs that shouldn’t be on there, but that if she gave them her account number, she would be refunded for the programs.
The victim does have Windows 7 on her computer but refused to give the caller her banking information. The caller became demanding and said if the victim didn’t give her account number, icons would be deleted from her computer. Then, the victim said, icons started vanishing from her screen.
Since she had bank information on her computer, she notified her bank of the incident. She took her computer to a repair shop and the workers found viruses on her computer.
The repairman told the victim the same thing had recently happened to another customer.
