ROCKMART, Ga. (AP) — Police say a 19-yeard-old man found shot to death in Polk County was supposed to testify in an upcoming trial.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Desmond Ray Kinnemore was found dead in a ditch near his Rockmart home Tuesday morning. A 911 caller reported hearing gunshots around 10:30 a.m. but didn't see the shooting.

Police say Kinnemore was supposed to meet with the county district attorney this week.

Rockmart police Chief Keith Sorrells told the newspaper police hadn't named any suspects by Thursday.

Investigators were trying to determine whether Kinnemore's planned testimony could have led to his death. Details about the case he was supposed to testify in were not immediately available.
