Rome brought home two Georgia Urban Forestry awards at the group’s recent luncheon in Stockbridge.

The Rome Braves won the Outstanding Business Grand Award for “Home Runs for a Greener Rome.” The environmental awareness program “Be Green,” produced by the Rome-Floyd Library and Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful, won the Outstanding Media Grand Award.

Award winners received a limited edition framed print of a historic McDonough Deodar Cedar, painted by artist Barry Nehr solely for this conference.

The Georgia Urban Forestry Council gives awards for business, media, individual achievement, education, urban arboriculture, community, new initiative, streetscape design and elected official.
