The tumultuous relationship between Blanche DuBois and Stanley Kowalski returns to the DeSoto stage when Rome Little Theatre brings the Tennessee Williams landmark play “A Streetcar Named Desire” to Broad Street starting Oct. 12.

The play is set in New Orleans when aging but still-attractive Southern belle Blanche arrives at her sister’s apartment, having fled her ancestral Southern plantation, Belle Reve in Mississippi. Blanche’s pretentious refinement, thinly masking her alcoholism and delusions of grandeur, clash with Stanley, Stella’s husband, who is brutish and abusive and represents the industrial, urban working class.

Tempers flare, secrets are revealed and the turbulent relationships in the apartment finally comes to a shocking conclusion.

The RLT cast will include Tracy Hellriegel as the fading, Southern belle Blanche, Chris Parker as the brutish Stanley, Amy Scott as Stella Kowalski and Charles Morris Jr. as Blache’s would-be suitor Harold “Mitch” Mitchell.

The show is directed by Gail DesChamps and produced by Neal Brackett.

“A Streetcar Named Desire” runs Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 12 through Oct. 21. at the DeSoto Theatre on Broad Street. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 8 p.m. Sunday shows begin at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and senior adults.
