This week members of the Freedom Seekers Support Club got together and delivered turkeys, ham, fixings and desserts to the William S. Davies Homeless Shelter on South Broad Street.
“They bring enough for a Thanksgiving feast — two turkeys, ham, fixings and everything,” Bill Davies said. “It’s just a nice thing for these guys to be doing. We really do appreciate the community support.”
Mark Loveless, the president of the Seekers support club, said it is the second year the group has donated food to the shelter.
Sometimes people need a helping hand to get their lives back together and the shelter is doing just that, he said.
“We think it’s a great thing they’re doing over there,” Loveless said.
The feeling is mutual, Davies said.
“This is the second year these guys have brought us all this so we could give everyone a good Thanksgiving,” Davies said. “They are a bunch of good motorcycle fellas.”
The group is also partnering with the Freedom Seekers with a Toys for Tots ride this Sunday at Rolater Park in Cave Spring.
The group gathers beginning at 11 a.m. and leaves the park at 1 p.m. The ride will end at the Coosa Valley fairgrounds. Admission for the ride is one new unwrapped toy.
