Sewer spill reported near Floyd County Jail

A sewer spill caused by snack bags and rags from the Floyd County Jail was cleaned up after approximately 2,000 gallons of sewage leaked into an unnamed tributary leading to Burwell Creek, according to a Rome Water and Sewer Division report.

The spill was reported on Jan. 3 at approximately 3 p.m. and was cleaned up by 3:30 p.m.

The occurred approximately 1,400'north of the Floyd County Jail. The sewer main was thoroughly cleaned with the sewage, bags and rags removed from the spill site.
