Video surveillance and police interviews lead to the arrest of two men suspected in an armed robbery at a Rockmart convenience store Thursday, according to police.

Justin Sims of Rockmart and Andrian Payton of Union City were arrested Friday afternoon on charges relating to a robbery of the Quick Stop at 706 W. Elm St., according to Det. David Gowens of the Rockmart Police Department.

The men are charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, according to Polk County Jail records.

Gowens said the incident occurred around 11:15 p.m. when the men, both allegedly armed with weapons, robbed the store of an undisclosed amount of cash.

A clerk was hit on the head with a gun in the incident, he said. The clerk suffered no other injuries.

Gowens said the men were arrested around 2 p.m Friday based on video surveillance from the store and police interviews. Some money was recovered, he said.
