Titles within reach for tennis players

After five intense days, several players now have their ultimate goal within their reach in the Southern 16 Closed tournament. The event has reached the final stages in each of the tourney’s four divisions — girls and boys singles, and girls and boys doubles. Blaine Boyden, Spencer Richey, Grey Hamilton and Daniel Belsito each posted victories in the boys’ singles to reach the semifinals. On the girls side, the list of winners who moved into the semis included Sena Suswam, Makenna Jones, Suzanne Zenoni and Amanda Rebol. Many of the singles players who advanced deep into the tournament will be pulling double duty in the semifinals, as they will be competing in the finals rounds of the doubles bracket, too. The tournament, which has dealt with rain this week, opened withmore than 250 players.
