The Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctions the event.
Proceeds will benefit the Rome-Floyd Sports Hall of Fame scholarship fund, which helps families afford recreation activities including the special needs Challenger Sports program and youth athletics.
A Battle of the Bands will also be part of the entertainment for the event.
The Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority, in partnership with Rome-Floyd Sports Hall of Fame and RN-T.com, is calling for entries for the contest, sponsored and hosted by 95.7 The Ridge.
The application deadline is March 31. All genres are accepted. Interested bands must submit an mp3 file of one song by e-mail, along with the band name and contact information, to mattd@theridge957.com.
Contest judges will then listen to all entries and select 16 bands to participate in the live on-air contest by April 14. Matt D and Mullins in the Morning will then announce the lucky 16 on 95.7 The Ridge.
The selected songs will be played each week during the morning show. Listeners will vote on their favorite band online at RN-T.com.
The four bands with the most votes will compete live on the main stage at the Roman Roast on the River.
During the live battle, people will again place their votes on their favorite, and the one with the most votes will be the new Battle of the Bands champion.
