In partnership with the Rome-Floyd Sports Hall of the Fame, The Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority announces a call for entries into the second annual Roman Roast on the River Barbecue Competition on May 13-14. The barbeque competition is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society and is open to both professional and back yard cookers. Spaces are still open in both categories. Teams interested in competing should submit an application by Friday, April 15. Applications are available at the RFPRA Administrative office at 1 Shorter Avenue or online at rfpra.com.

This year’s festival will feature many new activities starting on Friday evening including a concert, contests, FREE children’s activities, and a beauty pageant. In addition to the festival’s main attraction - barbeque tasting, all the favorites from last year will return including the car show, arts & crafts, and Battle of the Bands.

More event details will be announced April 1.

The event is presented by Metro PCS and supported by Coosa Valley Federal Credit Union. All proceeds from the Roman Roast on the River event will go to support RFPRA programs for youth and persons with special needs.

Volunteers are needed for this fundraising event and are invited to contact Lisa Nash for details: 706.291.0766, lnash@rfpra.com
