Two people were killed in a single-car wreck near Fairmount on Wednesday night, the Georgia State Patrol reported.

A single car containing a male driver and a female passenger veered off Ga. 53 and struck a tree, killing both people.

According to Lt. Paul Cosper of the Georgia State Patrol:

“It went off the road about 10 p.m., but we didn’t hear about it until about 6 a.m. because nobody was there to witness the wreck when it happened.”

Cosper identified the driver as Tony Anthony Patterson, 51, of Fairmount, and the passenger as Marla Michelle Mahan, 41, of Waleska.

He said they were both dead when patrolmen arrived at the scene. Patterson and Mahan were ejected from the car, a 1966 Chevy Nova, Cosper said.

@sneezlebug...I would assume they talked to relatives who probably knew their schedule or agenda..Sometimes in these violent wrecks a persons wristwatch will stop after impact.

Unless of course they can tell by examination approximately how long the victims had been deceased. My condolences to their families.

If the state patrol or someone else stumbled upon this accident, and there were no witnesses, then how do they know the accident occured at about 10 PM?
