According to Rome police reports:
Richmond Hadley, 28, of 333 Fletcher St. in Atlanta, was arrested Monday by Rome police at the Rome Probation Offices on 100 Marable Way at about 10:30 p.m.
Reports stated that Rome police were called out to the Rome Probation Office at 10 p.m. after probation officers had taken Hadley into custody when he was spotted loitering at the offices after hours.
Officers watched him initially wandering around the offices, and when Hadley returned to his car they allegedly saw him hiding something underneath the driver’s seat when they approach Hadley’s maroon 1995 Infiniti G20.
The probation officers asked him to step out of the car and called in Rome police for backup. Hadley told the probation officers that he was lost and looking for a house in Rome when he is taken into custody.
When Rome officers arrived they began to search Hadley’s car. Officers found 48 1-ounce bags of tobacco packaged for sale with rolling papers, a gallon zip lock bag of marijuana — weighing in at 230 grams or more than a half-pound — along with a Glock 27 .40 caliber pistol, found inside of a book bag in the back seat.
Police also took Hadley’s car and cell phone into custody, and inside the car found a notebook with hand written instructions to where police believe is a drug drop site behind the Rome Probation Office.
He remained in the Floyd County Jail Tuesday night without bail on charges of felony possession of marijuana, felony possession with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a housing project, possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of a firearm or knife while trying to commit crimes and carrying a pistol or weapon within a school safety zone. Police also included misdemeanor criminal trespass and loitering or prowling charges.
