Six Floyd employees were honored with video tributes as 2011 Floyd Heroes: Nancy Bell, Salisa Bell, Bill Fortenberry, Summer Hullender, Kathy Pierce and Jennifer Williams. Heroes are Floyd employees who go above and beyond their daily responsibilities by consistently exceeding the organization’s Service Standards and leading by example both at work and in the community.
FMC recognizes teams, departments
The Public Relations Department received the President’s Award at FMC’s annual Celebration of Service.
The President’s Award, selected by Stuenkel and awarded to an individual, department or team that has contributed significantly to the organization’s strategic initiatives, was awarded to the Public Relations Department, led by Haley Walker, Director, and Donna Braden, Manager, and including Daniel Bevels, Rebekah Carr, Bill Fortenberry, Mark Hannah, Jennie Pruitt, Ryan Smith and Lenae Sneed.
Specifically, Stuenkel cited the department’s role in three key projects: the selection of Floyd Medical Center to operate Polk Medical Center, the organization’s ongoing Lean Six Sigma performance improvement initiatives and the Save the Dolls! breast health awareness public relations campaign.
The Executive Team Award, selected by Floyd’s executive leadership, was awarded to Tracy Farmer, Director of the Floyd Outpatient Surgery Center. Farmer was recognized for her leadership skills, clinical expertise and dedication to customers.
The Floyd Physician of the Year, which is awarded to the Floyd physician who has provided leadership, demonstrated outstanding support of the organization and its mission, exhibited outstanding clinical skills and provided compassionate patient care that goes well beyond expectations, resulting in excellent patient satisfaction, was presented to Dr. Anne Cowan, medical director for the Preoperative Evaluation Clinic.
The Department of the Year is selected by the organization’s Operations Council, comprised of department directors. Tifani Kinard, Director of the Emergency Care Center, accepted the award on behalf of the department, which sees more than 72,000 patients annually and recently opened a new entrance. The ECC is in the process of a multi-phased construction project that will increase capacity from 32 patient beds to 50.
The Physician Practice of the Year, which honors the Floyd physician practice that achieves success by exhibiting outstanding performance in four areas: quality measures, patient satisfaction, financial measures and organizational support, was presented to Floyd Primary Care and Center for Diabetes, the offices of Brad Ward, M.D., and Ann Ward, M.D.
The recipient of the Patient Satisfaction Improvement Award, which goes to the department with the greatest improvement in patient satisfaction scores, as measured by Press Ganey Associates, during the past 12 months, was the Inpatient Surgery department.
The recipient of the Patient Satisfaction Excellence Award, which goes to the department with the highest patient satisfaction scores, as measured by Press Ganey Associates, during the past 12 months, was Heyman HospiceCare.
