According to a press release from the Gordon County Sheriffs office, deputy sheriffs were dispatched to a remote, rural area Sunday near the Ryo community in Gordon County in response to a report of the discovery of two bodies.

After being unable to make contact by telephone, a family member discovered the bodies of James Lee Asher, 64, of 4208 Terrace Drive, Acworth, and David Wayne Johnson, 50, of 53 Willow Bend, Cartersville, inside a camper/trailer on private hunting club lands. Fire, rescue and coroner personnel responded to the scene as well. Investigating officials suspect carbon monoxide poisoning.

There was no reported evidence of foul play, according to the press release.

“This appears to have been a tragic accident, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the two victims,” said Gordon County Sheriff Mitch Ralston.
