The Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority is hosting the 3rd Annual Paws in the Park, presented by Petland, on Saturday, October 6 at Ridge Ferry Park from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The event is free to the public and will feature a full line-up of activities for families and their dogs.

The event will start with a 5K Doggie Dash & 1 Mile Walk/Run through Ridge Ferry Park. Participants can register in advance for $15 at rfpra.com or on the day of the event for $20. All participants who register by October 1 receive a guaranteed t-shirt.

Following the Doggie Dash is a full schedule of activities and demonstrations:

- Watch South Paws, a local disc dog club, showcase their disc tricks and skills

- See Georgia Dog Gym demonstrate many talents including agility, obedience and duck herding

- Participate in canine contests including, My Dog’s Got Talent Trick Contest, Cutest Dog Contest, Amateur Disk Dog Contest and Dog Costume Contest

This is one event in Rome where families are encouraged to bring their dogs. Event coordinator, William Pennscott states, “This is a great opportunity for dog owners to mingle and meet other local dog owners. We added more activities to this year’s event to offer something for everyone.”
