The Dallas Cowboys signed recently release punter Brian Moorman late Wednesday night to take over the punting duties for former Coosa standout Chris Jones.

Jones, who signed a three-year deal with the Cowboys this past off-season, was injured during the Cowboys 16-10 win over Tampa Bay on Sunday a roughing-the-punter penalty.

Jones came up hobbling after the play with a sprained knee.

Tampa Bay’s Dekoda Watson was called for a roughing the kicker penalty on Jones, diving into the punter’s knee on the failed attempt.

It’s unclear at this point how long Jones will be sidelined, but he’ll have the bye week to rest before being reevaluated.

Moorman is expected to fill for Jones until Dallas knows the severity of Jones’ injury.

The Buffalo Bills released Moorman on Tuesday to sign former Darlington and Florida State standout Shawn Powell to take over as punter for the Bills.
