Mrs. Jackson Greene Abercrombie
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Ratliff of Rome. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Brown of Kingston, Mary Nell Ratliff of Rome and the late Henry Raliff.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Abercrombie of Silver Creek. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. O.D. Manning Jr. of Rome and the late Mr. and Mrs. William L. Abercrombie.
Dr. Bill Dempsey and the Rev. Tim Burnham performed the double-ring ceremony. The altar was centered with a candle tree, enhanced with an arrangement of red roses with ferns. Descending white columns, draped with ivy and white tulle, flanked the center arrangement. Ferns completed the setting.
Music for the nuptials was provided by pianist Maria Ratliff, aunt of the bride. Selections included “How Beautiful,” “Over the Rainbow, “The Prince of Denmark’s March,” “Bridal Chorus” and “Wedding March.” Vocal selections were provided by Jennifer Raliff, aunt of the bride, and Garrett Henderson. They include “Parents Prayer,” “Only Hope,” and “Better Today.”
The guest book was attended by Chyenne Abercrombie and Sarah Stewart. Wedding programs were distributed by Cassie Bowers and Valerie Braden.
The matron of honor was Tiffany LeVerne of Rome, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Hannah Burnes of Rome, Jennifer Ratliff of Auburn, Ala., Abbi Davis of Lindale, Taylor Brown of Kingston and Angie Fletcher of Rome.
They were identical one-shoulder floor-length gowns of black chiffon, enhanced with a black chiffon overlay at the shoulder and soft gathers at the side. Matching black pearl necklaces and bracelets, which were gifts from the bride, complemented their ensembles. They carried hand bouquest of white gerber daisies, surrounded by black feathers, wrapped with a white satin sleeve and adorned by pearls.
Flower girls were Emmelyn Harrison and Phoebe Swilley, they wore white linen sleeveless dresses enhanced at the waist with black chiffon adorned with white organza, which tied at the back. Matching pearl necklaces and bracelets, which were gifts from the bride, complemented their ensembles.
The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, chose a formal strapless princess gown of white chiffon covered with diamonds and pearls, and with layers of floor-length white tulle cascading at the waist. She wore a finger-tip length veil, featuring two tiers with a sparkling diamond and pearl edging. She was adorned with a diamond headband and red gerber daisies. She wore a pair of cascading diamond and pearl earrings, given to her by the grandparents of the groom. The bride carried a lace handkerchief which was a gift from the groom. She carried a hand bouquet of red roses and red gerber daisies enhanced with black feathers and wrapped with a white satin sleeve adorned with pearls.
Tony Abercrombie, father of the groom, was the best man. The groomsmen were Austin Ratliff of Auburn, Ala., Thad Padgett of Athens, Ryan Coker of Rome, Caleb Carmean of Kennesaw, Caleb Ratliff of Rome and Gil LeVerne of Rome. Trace LeVerne, nephew of the bride, and Quint Harrison were the ring bearers.
The mother of the bride wore a formal sleeveless floor-length gown of black chiffon which featured an empire waist in ivory with a cascading satin front ruffle. The mother of the groom wore a floor-length amethyst, matte crepe column dress which had a draped skirt and cowl back. It was adorned with a black grosgrain riboon sash which was enhanced with rhinestones. The mothers carried small hand bouquets of white assorted flowers which were wrapped with a white satin sleeve. The grandmothers wore corsages of greenery and white gerber daisies.
Following the ceremony, the reception was held at the Rome Civic Center. The bride’s cake was a round four-tiered collection of layers covered with butter-cream frosting. Each tier was individually decorated. The bottom tier was accented with a black satin ribbon. The next teir was dotted with black fondant circles. Black swirls adorned the next layer and the final layer was covered with black fondant circles. It was topped off with a bundle of red roses and a mirrored “A.”
The groom’s cake was a three-tiered red velvet Auburn University themed cake, decorated with a miniature oak tree covered with fondant to represent the tradition of an Auburn University win.
On the evening before the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents at La Marie’s in Rome.
Other prenuptial parties consisted of a miscellaneous couples shower at the home of David and Glenda Cox, a miscellaneous shower at the home of Jennifer Heller, a miscellaneous shower hosted by Amy Summerlin and Connie Greenway, a shower given by the ladies at Enon Baptist Church, a miscellaneous shower at the home of Tiffany LeVerne, a miscellaneous shower hosted by the family of the mother of the bride, a miscellaneous couples shower hosted by Tommy and Jane Manner, a shower hosted by coworkers of the bride at Model High School, a miscellaneous shower given by First Baptist Church of Lindale and a shower hosted by coworkers of the groom at Greater Rome Bank.
A bridal brunch was held at La Marie’s hosted by Maria and Jennifer Ratliff, both aunts of the bride, in honor of the bride and the bride’s attendants on the Saturday before the wedding.
After a wedding trip on a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean, the couple will reside in Rome.
