A warrant has been issued for the alleged gunman from Wednesday’s shooting that sent a victim to the hospital with three gunshot wounds in his right arm, according to detective Jeff Richerson with the Rome Police Department.

Demarcus Cantrell Mitchell, 22, of 904 Maple St., is being sought by police for three felony counts of aggravated assault and one misdemeanor count of simple battery.

Richerson said Mitchell should be considered armed and dangerous, and anyone who sees or comes into contact with him should call 911 immediately.

Wednesday’s shooting happened at the intersection of Pine Street and Roseway Circle in the area of North Broad Street.

According to Rome police officer Zachary Colvin:

Kenneth Beasley, 22, was in stable condition after being shot in the right arm three times. The victim was reported to have been shot during an altercation that happened in the roadway at about 6:20 p.m.

By the time officers arrived on the scene the victim had already been transported by car to Floyd Medical Center, where he was located and questioned by police.

The circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation.
