Turnovers led the downfall -- Shorter threw three interceptions and also lost a fumble.
Bradley Moon was the focal point of the offensive attack that saw him carry the ball 21 times for 114 yards, which included a long of 20 yards. T.J. Telfair added 31 yards rushing and Eric Dodson accounted for 25 rushing yards.
Before Dodson left with an injury, he passed 4 of 7 for 33 yards and also one interception. He was replaced by Maurice Bloodser who was unable to complete any of his four passes while throwing two interceptions.
Josh White had eight tackles to lead the Hawks defense with Demery Hawkins adding another seven, including four for losses.
Shorter (2-3, 0-1 GSC) has now lost consecutive games for the first time since the end of the 2010 season. The Hawks return to Barron Stadium on October 6 as the Point Skyhawks (0-3) make their way to Rome for a 1:30 pm kickoff. This will be the first match up between the two programs.
North Alabama (4-1, 2-0 GSC) will be in Texas next week as part of the GSC/Lone Star Conference scheduling as they play Texas A&M-Kingsville on October 6 at 7 pm CT.
