WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Backup quarterback Anthony Boone scored on a 4-yard touchdown run with 11:35 left, and Duke beat Wake Forest 34-27 on Saturday for its first win in the series since 1999.

Sean Renfree was 22 of 28 for 204 yards before leaving with an apparent right elbow injury. Brandon Connette finished with touchdown runs of 2 and 4 yards for the Blue Devils (4-1, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference).

Tanner Price finished 19 of 38 for 230 yards with two touchdowns for the Demon Deacons (3-2, 1-2), but his fumble inside the Wake Forest 10 set up Duke’s winning drive.

Two plays after Jordan DeWalt-Ondijo forced the fumble, Boone took a bootleg in for the go-ahead touchdown.

Wake Forest netted 11 total yards on its next two possessions before C.J. France intercepted Price, and Jela Duncan stretched it to 34-20 with a 17-yard touchdown run with 2:50 left.

Miami 44, N.C. State 37

MIAMI — Stephen Morris threw for a school-record 566 yards and five touchdowns, the last of those a 62-yard strike to Phillip Dorsett with 19 seconds left, and Miami beat North Carolina State for the Hurricanes’ first three-game winning streak since 2009.

Dorsett caught seven passes for 192 yards and two scores for Miami (4-1, 3-0 Atlantic Coast Conference). Rayshawn Scott had six catches for 180 yards for the Hurricanes, who meet unbeaten Notre Dame in Chicago next weekend.

Morris was 26-of-50 passing for Miami, which finished with 652 yards of offense and survived despite wasting a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter.

Mike Glennon completed 24 of 42 passes for 441 yards and four touchdowns for N.C. State (3-2, 0-1), but his interception with 48 seconds left set up Miami’s winning score.

Three plays later, Morris scrambled, bought some time and found Dorsett for the game-winner.

North Carolina 66, Idaho 0

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Gio Bernard scored twice, Bryn Renner threw three touchdown passes and North Carolina set a school scoring record in a win against Idaho.

Freshman Quinshad Davis had two TD catches for the Tar Heels (3-2), who had five different players reach the end zone in the first half. The Tar Heels had 371 yards and 45 points by halftime before finishing with 575 total yards and setting a single-game scoring record despite playing in a steady downpour nearly all afternoon.

The game was so one-sided that Bernard had just two carries while Renner played one snap after halftime.

Backup quarterback Marquise Williams scored on a 4-yard keeper early in the fourth, breaking the previous record of 65 points against Virginia Medical in 1914 and Wake Forest in 1928.

There were few positives for the Vandals (0-5), who had 110 yards by halftime and finished with 189.

No. 17 Clemson 45,

Boston College 31

BOSTON — Tajh Boyd threw for 367 yards and three touchdowns and ran in another himself as No. 17 Clemson beat Boston College.

Boyd completed 28 of 38 passes and ran 11 times for 42 yards and a TD for Clemson (4-1, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference). DeAndre Hopkins caught 11 passes for 197 yards for the Tigers, who bounced back after blowing a two-touchdown lead and losing 49-37 to No. 4 Florida State last week. Andre Ellington ran 25 times for 132 yards and a touchdown for Clemson.

Chase Rettig, who entered the day as the leading passer in the ACC, completed 25 of 43 passes for 341 yards and three touchdowns. Alex Amdion caught eight passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns for the Eagles (1-3, 0-2), who led 21-17 before giving up three unanswered touchdowns to fall behind 38-21.

Cincinnati 27, Virginia Tech 24

LANDOVER, Md. — Munchie Legaux hit Damon Julian for a 39-yard touchdown pass with 13 seconds to play, and Cincinnati beat Virginia Tech.

Trailing by four after a Hokies touchdown, the Bearcats (3-0) took over at their own 15 with 1:43 to play and moved downfield in nine plays for the score.

Cincinnati dominated in every way but the scoreboard, piling on the yards all game, and managed to finally escape with the win. Legaux completed 19 of 42 passes for a career-high 376 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Kenbrell Thompkins also set career highs for Cincinnati with seven catches for 134 yards and a score.

Logan Thomas was 17 for 30 for 242 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions for the Hokies (3-2), who have lost two games to unranked Big East schools in one of the most trying Septembers in recent history under coach Frank Beamer.

Louisiana Tech 44, Virginia 38

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Colby Cameron threw for one touchdown and ran for another, and Louisiana Tech scored 34 unanswered points to rally from an early deficit and beat penalty-riddled Virginia.

Ray Holley ran for two touchdowns for the Bulldogs (4-0), who trailed 24-10 midway through the second quarter. They then intercepted Michael Rocco three times and converted each one into a touchdown on their way to their eight consecutive road victory and 11th win in a row during the regular season. Chip Hester returned one interception 32 yards for a touchdown.

No. 4 Florida State 30,

South Florida 17

TAMPA, Fla. — EJ Manuel threw for 242 yards and a touchdown, helping No. 4 Florida State remain unbeaten with a victory over South Florida.

Receiver Rashad Greene got the Seminoles going with a 10-yard touchdown run, Christian Jones scored on a 12-yard fumble return and Penn State transfer Kevin Haplea had a 1-yard TD reception as the Seminoles (5-0) survived their first road test of the season by pulling away from a three-point lead with two TDs and a field goal in the final 5:09 of the third quarter.

Three years after returning to his hometown of Tallahassee to lead USF (2-3) to a 10-point upset of Florida State in his first college start, B.J. Daniels threw for 143 yards and ran for 72 more and two touchdowns for the Bulls.
