Report: Man tried to get refund on unpaid for vacuum

Police arrested a man who allegedly attempted to get a cash refund on a vacuum cleaner that he had just taken from a store shelf, according to Rome Police reports.

According to the report:

Jamie Lester Ball, 22, of 3275 County Road 168, Centre, Ala., was seen inside the West Rome Walmart, 2510 Redmond Circle, at about 8 p.m. Tuesday selecting a vacuum valued at approximately $69.94.

He then took it to the customer service department and attempted to receive a cash refund for the vacuum that he had not attempted to purchase.

Ball was charged with misdemeanor shoplifting and was released on bond.
