Kelsey Timmerman’s book “Where Am I Wearing?” was selected for this year’s One Book/Many Voices community-wide reading initiative. The author is scheduled to speak in Rome on Tuesday at Pepperell High School at 7 p.m.

“Where Am I Wearing?” is his quest to find out how and where his clothes were being made. Timmerman traveled to Honduras, Bangladesh and China to find the factories and meet the people who made his clothes. He is a freelance writer who focuses his attention on globalization, travel and the outdoors.

One Book/Many Voices, now in its sixth year, aims to bring books and authors with messages of social significance to the attention of local students and our community.

The Rome News-Tribune is once again sponsoring a writing contest for local students. High school students were asked to submit an essay, a poem or creative response exploring how one specific aspect of globalization affects them, their family and/or their community. There were more than 200 submissions. The winning essays can be found on page 8A of today’s issue.

Timmerman’s talk will be followed by a book signing. The event is open to the public. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at Kroger, the Rome-Floyd County Library or at the door.
