Freshman goalkeeper Logan Hill recorded his sixth shutout for Berry and made four saves. Hendrix keeper Marco Luna took the loss and totaled nine saves. Jacob Pierce led the Warriors with four shots.
Lady Vikings play to tie
Berry and Hendrix played to a 0-0 draw in two overtimes in a Southern Athletic Association match at Ford Field.
Berry is now 2-6-1 overall and 0-2-1 in SAA play. Hendrix’s record now stands at 4-6-1 and 0-2-1.
Lady Hawks fall to Valdosta State
Valdosta State’s Kim Caitlin Alderman notched the game’s only goal midway through the first half as the host Blazers held on for a 1-0 victory over Shorter in a non-league women’s soccer matchup between two Gulf South Conference clubs.
The win is Valdosta State’s (10-1-1) fourth in a row as the Blazers, who currently sit in third place in the GSC standings, remained unbeaten through their last six outings.
Lady Vikings in 18th after
first day of tourney
Nikki Cline paced Berry College with a 79 to lead the Vikings to a 337 on day one of the Southern Shootout, at Highland Park Golf Club. Berry is 18th of 22 teams and Cline is tied for 45th.
NAIA Lee University leads with a team score of 292, and Sewanee’s Emily Javadi leads all individuals after shooting 68 today. No. 3 Washington-St. Louis stands at second with a score of 300, and No. 13 (NAIA) Cumberlands is third with 302. No. 2 Centre is in fourth with 303, No. 1 Methodist is fifth with 304, and No. 9 Birmingham-Southern is sixth with 307.
Piedmont’s Katarina Hodge and Lee’s Courtney Shelton are tied for second in the individuals after shooting 71 today, followed by Methodist’s Kelsie Carralero, Centre’s Allison Hancock, and Lee’s Bernadette Little, tied for fourth with 72.
Other Berry College scores were: Lacey Sheppard, 84, T 82; Nicole Wood, 86, T 90; Chelsea Hoag, 88, T 96; Cady Clark, 94, 106. Playing as an individual, Lauren Buschhorn shot 103 and is 120th.
