An elderly woman was killed in a hit-and-run wreck Wednesday afternoon in Rossville.

The wreck occurred about 4 p.m. outside of Bell’s Smoke Shop in a shopping center at the intersection of West Gordon Avenue and Brody Lane, police chief Sid Adams said.

Officials did not publicly release the name of the woman, a Rossville resident, pending notification of family members.

The woman, after shopping at the tobacco store, was about to get in her car when she was hit, Adams said.

The driver, identified as Brandon Lee Dillard of Foster Lane in Ringgold, sped out of the shopping center parking lot along Chickamauga Avenue and turned onto West Gordon Avenue, he said.
