Golf: Willis wins Rome Tour Championship

Jeremy Willis fought off a late charge by Martin Ball to win the Rome Tour Championship with 321 points to Ball’s 302. Last year’s tour winner, Rob Van Gorder, finished third with 255 points.

Willis won two tournaments — Cedar Valley and Kraft — with good finishes in other tournament to win the 2012 championship.

Ball won the Tour Championship Tournament at Cherokee Country Club with a 76-68 — 144. Van Gorder finished in second with a 77-69 — 146.

Willis finished in a tie for seventh with a 75-78 —153.
