Participating in their final competition of the regular season, the Model High co-ed cheerleading team got a big boost of momentum for the postseason by taking first place on Saturday at Kell High.

The Devils will now turn their attention to the state sectionals, which are Nov. 3 in Columbus.

If they finish among the top-16 teams at sectionals, they will qualify for the state competition the following week, also held in Columbus.

Model, now in its third season of co-ed, has advanced to state in each of the past seasons and has earned a spot in the top-6 each time.

Team members are: Emily Powers (captain), Haley Pilgrim (co-captain), Alex Mcdermont, Kalie Fowler, Brittany Jacks, Kait Copeland, Jessica Peach, Robin Jacks, Tripp Bishop, Emily Leonard, Dustin Messex, Kaylan Freeman, Emily Tyler, Chase Lowe, Hannah Bradfield, Ashley Mitchell Tara Baldwin and Victoria Ingram. The team is coached by Rachel Moore.
