A truck ended up hitting the front of Teriyaki Passion, 136 Shorter Ave., late Tuesday night after the driver apparently blacked out, according to Rome police.

According to officer John Giles:

A Toyota Tacoma PreRunner was traveling westbound on the inside lane of Shorter Avenue when the driver, who told police he had blood pressure problems, allegedly blacked out.

The truck then left the roadway and went up the embankment between Moe’s and Teriyaki Passion, hit a light post in the parking lot of Teriyaki Passion and rolled over at least once.

It then landed right-side-up and traveled straight, through an iron fence surrounding a patio area of the restaurant and into the building, damaging a half brick wall and two windows.

Both the driver and a passenger were transported to Floyd Medical Center. Giles said the driver did not appear to be injured but was not aware of where he was when officers arrived on scene.
